Phoenix & Tempe House Show Venues & Ideas for hosting shows

House Show Venues in Phoenix, Ideas about how to do them was written about being involved in doing house shows specifically around Phoenix and Tempe. It’s unfinished, but I’m impatient. Publishing prematurely will push me to finish it timely.

I’m ok I talk too much

Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: Drifting through Phoenix on rail. An overweight lady sleeps on the bed of her cheeks, mickey mouse sweater faces me. Middlemen congregate to check their watches against each others’, shifting in disagreement with their prostates. I ask them for the time, they write it down on a sheet and charge me a dollar with no refunds. I have 15 cents, so they tell me it’s 10 seconds. At home, listening to a girl scream at her worried dog barking at the gate. The dog ain’t cute now so chill the fuck out, she’s curdling milk in the curls of…

How to Play Music Through Skype

Our article attempts to explain our reasons for choosing Skype for playing music online. We briefly and inaccurately slander all other methods of jamming online, and sloppily discuss how “we” do it. The article will sober up and improve with time, an egg sandwich, and guilt. Note: This will be part 1 of a multiple attempt exploration at online collaboration for music. Other attempts will discuss different hardware and software (such as JackPilot).

American Sex Dump

Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: 01 Shit On A Dry Tongue 02 Extroverts 03 American Sex Dump Smear face hunched on a curb, caging hits. No guts just lips, Shit On A Dry Tongue. My ear bleeding for days now, no mood for Extroverts and polite conversation. Band with a limp wrist. Redneck, spit for eyes trying to do a convincing job of a jackal dressed up as a hyena. This summer has gotten stretched out and thin. Friends flimsy like targets on a shooting range, no one calls each other. They read the names like Memorial Wall multiple choice tests. College kids are in season, five bucks a…

No Good Excuses

Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: Obviously the damage to my arm has slowed down things drastically. Originally I was planning on releasing a lot of the live recordings accompanied with writing. Both from the tour and Tempe house shows. Luckily I can do a decent amount of mastering with one arm. I’m going to attempt to eq many of these recordings, post the best of these and contact the bands so they can get the raw audio. Hopefully these recordings do someone good. Upcoming bands: Soft Shoulder, Pigeon Religion, Stephen Steinbrink, Hell-Kite, Glochids, Nu Sensae, Christina The Hun… I can’t remember much more after…

James Fella “Floor Sounds For No One” From 905

905 Current Releases contains a cassette by James Fella recorded in our very own kitchen. Most of us were gone during this period, but I understand that butternut squash was carmelizing in the oven, and onions were quietly waiting to be blended. In a cheesy way, James is already a household name next to our toaster. Also recommended, Wasteland Jazz Unit. 905 Tapes put out many excellent cassettes with reflexive insert art that borders on charred instinct. Take a good look at their catalogue.

Writing with Cubital or Carpal Tunnels Syndrome

Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: I am attempting to post writing and notes, live recordings from the tour with Stephen Steinbrink, Hell Kite, and Glochids. On the tour, my condition worsened dramatically. I can barely type or write on paper. I’ve been struggling for days to try and finish at least the Detroit leg of our trip. I’m at loss, for the larger body of work. I will soon switch to recording and posting mp3s of my writing. My posts might come much slower simply because my writing will be, what I say. If people can volunteer to help transcribe the mp3s I’d be grateful, and…

Tour with Stephen Steinbrink, Hell Kite, Glochids: Route to Detroit

Archived; click post to view.
Excerpt: We head to Detriot in an undersized Scion filled with parlor tricks, noisemakers, cereal and dirty socks. Stephen Steinbrink, Ann as Hell Kite, and Glochids as James, are on the Midwest half of their tour. They picked me up from my parent’s home in Kentucky, trying to work up some money for food and rent back in Arizona. I was on my third ear infection, turns out I’m allergic to my birthplace. To justify my tall frame squeezed in this car, I’ve designated myself as an archivist to record their shows at various DIY or all age venues across this…
